Good morning! This is a reminder to please send extra clear bottles of water to school with your student today. The water fountains will not be available due to the boil order.
Today's a big day for our 8th grade softball team! Go Dogs!
Thanks to parent, Jessa Pauline, for creating and sharing this graphic!
WJHS is proud to announce the Staff Member of the Month for September is our WCUSD5 Director of Technology, Mr. Nick Hergenroeder! Despite power outages and other surprises, Mr. Hergenroeder and his team work tirelessly to make sure our tech systems are up and running smoothly. Teachers and students appreciate all he does for our district. Congrats, Mr. Hergenroeder!
Good afternoon! This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow, Sept. 1, is a 1/2 day for students. WJHS dismissal time on 1/2 days is 11:15am. Thank you!

Please consider helping support WJHS by ordering apparel from our online store. This will be our fundraiser for the year. Funds are used for student incentives, playground equipment, and technology. The store will be open until this Sunday, Sept. 3. Items will be delivered to school 2-4 weeks after that. Thanks for your support! Go Bulldogs!

Tomorrow (Tues, Aug 29th) is picture day! Please visit the link online or fill out and return your order and payment with your student tomorrow. Forms were sent home with students last week.
Band parents and students - due to the weather conditions, the WJHS band will NOT be walking/performing in the parade today.
Parents and students - we have had a number of issues during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal. For safety purposes, students are not allowed to cross 1st St. until 3:00 when traffic on that road has cleared. Students who are crossing Bellefontaine Dr. (in front of the JH), must do so at the crosswalk on either end of the building. If you are picking your student up, please do so on Bellefontaine Dr. or pull up along the school side of 1st St. so that your students do not have to cross 1st Street to get to you. Thank you for helping us keep students safe as the come and go from school each day.
Good morning. Attached is a link to order Bulldog apparel. We are using this as our WJHS fundraiser this year. The store will close on Sept. 3. Items will be delivered to the school 2-4 weeks after the store closes. Thanks for supporting WJHS! Go Bulldogs!

We'd love to see a big crowd out to support our softball team in their home opener! Thanks to parent, Jessa Pauline, for sharing this graphic for our post!
7th and 8th grade supply drop/schedule walk will be Monday, August 14 from 6:30-8:00. To save yourself some time, please print off a copy of your child’s schedule prior to Monday evening. Your child’s locker number will not appear on the schedule that you print. I suggest that you write their locker number on the printed schedule (you can find this on the student information tab). We will have extra schedules printed for all students if you need one. These schedules and maps of the building will be located on the table at the main entrance. You may park behind the main gym, in the parking lot across from the north building or anywhere you can find a parking spot in front of the school.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Good afternoon WJHS families. This is just a reminder that we will be hosting 6th grade orientation tomorrow evening for parents and students from 6:00-6:30 in the South Gym. Following orientation, students and parents will have opportunities to find lockers and drop off school supplies. Students may then walk schedules until 8:00.
Please bring a printed copy of your child’s schedule from Skyward if possible. When you print the schedule, the locker number will not be visible. I suggest that you look the locker number up in Student Information and write it on your child’s schedule. We will have copies of schedules if you need one; however, the line to get one could be lengthy.

Lily Starek, who just finished 8th grade at WJHS, recently won a writing competition! In coordination with Mrs. Clinebell's Science class, Lily competed in the research paper division of the "Water's Worth It" campaign hosted by the Central States Water Environment Association. As a result of her research and well-cited writing, Lily won the Southern Illinois regional competition and now advances to compete at the state level. Her research focused on the Clean Water Act, one of the first big US environmental laws, enacted in 1972 to restore and protect United States waters. In addition to other prizes, her essay and photo will also be published in the summer edition of Central States Water Magazine. Congrats, Lily! We are proud of your accomplishment!
We're a little late, but still wanted to recognize some stellar WJHS students for receiving the WJHS Character Trait Award for May. Our Trait in May was HONESTY. Congrats to these students! We are proud of you!
